THE MULTIMEDIA RELAXATION CHAIR
Hugo B. J. Soder 1998
The MULTIMEDIA RELAXATION CHAIR proposes a futuristic solution to every person anxious to get immediately a deep relaxation or merely to recover a moment of privacy.

It is a real cocoon of well being. The user immediately feels an impression of quietness and rest. Its simple and comfortable utilization is also adapted to children and elderly people.

The chair is very compact and not cumbersome. Beside relaxation, its various applications interest amateurs of music as well as therapists or people working on computers.

The conception of the MULTIMEDIA RELAXATION CHAIR is based on the recognition and the respect of human physiological proportions. It creates a welcoming protected space, perfectly adapted to the occupant.

Its shape, its proportions and its components have been studied to achieve a passive relaxation merely by sitting inside.

The active relaxation is essentially provoked by listening to the especially composed music, through the acoustic system of the chair.

The music is not only perceived by the ears, but also throughout the whole body.

The low frequencies put the muscles in resonance to provoke a spontaneous relaxation.

Conditions of listening are exceptional and will delight audiophiles.

The architecture and proportions of the chair create a feeling of total immersion in the music.

The music envelops all the body and seems to come from everywhere, even at low volume.

This effect of relief and depth is based on the physique of natural acoustics, as well as on the choice and the disposition of the interior coverings of the chair.

All these elements improve dramatically the efficiency of short (10 to 20 minutes) relaxation musical programs.

The natural shape in dual hemispheres of the MULTIMEDIA RELAXATION CHAIR is aesthetic and ergonomic.

It works preferably in opened position, but the superior element can be closed for an increased protection against environmental disturbances.

The armchair rests on an omni-directional air suspension that amplifies the natural movements of the body to create a spontaneous rocking effect.

The stuffing of the seat reacts to the skin temperature, so it casts to the user's body for a personalized support. The surfaces of contact are washable.

The MULTIMEDIA RELAXATION CHAIR is equipped with a complete multi-dimensional sound system, with a CD player operated by remote control and with an internal ambient light for reading.

Elements are cast in composite materials and can be recycled by the constructor.

With the MULTIMEDIA RELAXATION CHAIR design and state-of-the-art technologies contribute to the comfort and the cocooning. It is an upmarket handicraft product with high value added.

Developed and made in Switzerland, it is protected by international design patents. It was rewarded by the 1999 silver medal on its first public exhibition at the 27th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva.

The optional equipment of the MULTIMEDIA RELAXATION CHAIR for specific utilization can be almost unlimited, for example:

- Flat screen for video, television or computer pictures.

- Communication circuit for teleconferences.

- Additional lighting reacting to music.

- Physiological measurement devices to monitor and record the user's reactions.

All the electric system functions on low-tension (12 volts) direct current.
It is powered by an external transformer, and can even work with solar panels, independently of the power line.
